Description: Apprentices receive both practical experience and on the job training from their employer, and theoretical and practical training with a registered training organisation (RTO). Apprentices are indentured to individual employers for the term of their training for between three and five years, depending on the industry and occupation. Apprenticeships are generally available in traditional trade areas, for example, plumbing, electricity, metal fabrication, hairdressing, jewellery making, commercial cookery and bricklaying. |
